You don’t need to worry about not speaking English. Aside from English, Dr. Dafashy is fluent in both Spanish and Arabic.
U.S. Citizenship is a guaranteed birthright protected under the Fourteenth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
The Constitution guarantees citizenship to those born within the United States and its territories regardless of the parent’s nationality.
You should never lie to an immigration officer regarding your plans to give birth in the United States.
Make sure you have a valid visa to enter the U.S. and carry all pertinent medical documentation with you. Additionally, be prepared to show proof that you have sufficient funds to pay for your medical fees and stay during the duration of your trip. If you’ve pre-paid your international delivery plan, make sure to bring the receipt with you to show immigration.
In most cases, it is safe for an expectant mother to travel. However, it’s important you speak to your doctor about your intentions to give birth in the United States and request a medical certificate (fit to fly letter) to ensure you are in good enough health to travel.
If the reason you are traveling to the U.S. is to receive a higher standard of care because of a “high-risk” pregnancy, you should make plans to arrive with ample time so our doctors can assess your medical situation.
Of course! Once you’ve booked your international delivery service with us, you can request a medical responsibility letter to apply for a U.S. visa. We will send the letter in PDF format for you to print.
We cannot guarantee that your Visa nor entry to the United States will be approved. The decision lies solely at the discretion of the immigration officer reviewing your documentation. Women’s OB/GYN Center is only authorized to provide medical services, and therefore we cannot offer any legal or immigration advice.
We can help you with large portions of planning your international visit. However, if you have questions regarding travel documents, visas, or other paperwork, we recommend seeking the advice of immigration experts.
Additionally, please remember that only United States residents qualify for Medicaid. Therefore, if you are not a resident of the U.S., you will not be able to seek Medicaid on behalf of your baby.
How Much in Advance Should I Arrive Before My Expected Due Date?
Each case is different and largely depends on the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy. However, patients arrive three weeks before their expected due date in most cases.
We kindly ask that you notify us of your arrival date beforehand to schedule an appointment with the doctor and arrange your hotel accommodations.
How Long After My Baby’s Birth Can I Return Home?
Pediatricians recommend that infants be at least a week old before traveling by plane. This will give you time to recover and receive your baby’s birth certificate and passport. However, ensure you have enough flexibility in case the paperwork is delayed.
